dementia is a horrible disease with no cure, people lose sense of themselves and their world around them. This happened to my dad over the period of two or three years...it became my responsibility, which i did gladly because he saved me and my future, he sacrificed himself so it was a small thing for me to take care of him...i loved him...i wished he wasn't so gone so we could have conversations about what is going on, and sometimes even being out in the beautiful sun wouldn't inspire him to say anything, so we would spend hours not talking...just being together...
